Golden Girl seeks comfortable, easygoing home.
Juanita was found as a stray - she appeared to have been a house dog and she is such a mellow girl that a local shelter kept her for a month and then appealed to Dusty Paws for rescue. She is about 10 years old and 64 lbs. (she could use a few more pounds and is working on that in her foster home).
Shelter life was not ideal for Juanita - when we picked her up she seemed unhappy, restless and had a haunted expression. Less than 2 weeks in her foster home she is now the relaxed, cheerful dog you see in these photos.
Juanita likes the company of humans and is happy to hang out with the family - she enjoys being petted and smiles a lot. She has that soft fur you love to touch. Juanita also enjoys being with other dogs and is currently fostering with a Chihuahua. Per the shelter, she is also good with cats. Juanita is house-trained. Although not up for long walks, she rides very well in the car. When outside she keeps clean - doesn't roll around in the dirt.
Juanita is spayed and a vet visit confirms she is in good health for her age. The shaved area that you see is from an examination of a cyst (benign) and the fur is starting to grow back. A dental cleaning has been scheduled for her. She is a lovely dog.
